How to make a Mai Tai

The granddaddy of all Tiki drinks, the Mai Tai is still a popular cocktail to this day for its complex, balanced flavors and rum-forward moreish-ness. While there are many variations to the multi-faceted Mai Tai, one thing is always certain: a good Mai Tai recipe allows the rum to shine. If you’re looking for a tropical, refreshing drink enjoyable any time of day, look no further than the Mai Tai.


  • 30ml white rum
  • 30ml dark rum
  • 25ml fresh lime juice
  • 50ml fresh orange juice
  • 15ml Orgeat
  • 25ml Cointreau
  • Garnish: Mint sprig and orange wheel


  1. Fill shaker with ice, add in white rum, dark rum, lime juice, orange juice, Orgeat and Cointreau, then shake well
  2. Strain mixture into rocks glass filled with ice cubes, garnish and serve

Yields 1 drink
