How to make a Tequila Sunrise

As tacky as it is delicious, the Tequila Sunrise is one of those drinks that get plenty of orders at the beach bar, especially as soon as one person orders it. And who can blame them, with a drink so eye-catching? Mimicking a sunrise hue over the sea, the gradient orange and red colors of the drink is what gives this cocktail its visual allure. With the right treatment though, the Tequila Sunrise can also be really yummy. Plus, it’s so easy to make, no mixing is even required. Here’s how.

  • 60ml tequila
  • 120ml fresh orange juice
  • 15ml grenadine syrup
  • Garnish: Orange slices and cherry

  1. Fill a glass with ice, then add in tequila and orange juice
  2. Pour grenadine slowly into glass, making sure not to mix it (it should sink to the bottom of the glass, creating a layered effect)
  3. Garnish with orange slices and cherry and serve
